TOWARDS A NEW ERA OF ERASMUS IN EUROPE:
Beyond Protests: Empowering Youth Environmental Engagement Towards Solutions
We Need One Million Signatures For Uniting Youth, Scientists, and Civil Society
|
Youth are leading the way in the fight against global challenges such as climate change, and environmental degradation. We are thrilled to support a movement initiated by a group of pupils and teachers from secondary schools, along with the Ayam Sailing Europe association. They organised awareness campaigns during their open day and encouraged visitors to visit this webpage to join the Erasmus Maris movement. Together, we aim to gather one million signatures to call on the European institutions to create a new type of Erasmus in Europe or broaden the funding scope of Erasmus+. The goal is to support collaborative projects initiated by both formal and non-formal education sectors. Projects that should involve secondary schools meaningfully throughout the different phases of an environmental study with the help of scientific institutions.
The new Erasmus will fill the existing gap between the programmes Erasmus+ and Horizon Europe* and will contribute to prepare for the issues ahead. *The Erasmus+ programme is primarily focused on promoting mobility and collaboration in the field of education and training, while Horizon Europe is focused on funding research and innovation projects. |
The current situation in Europe:
There is currently no program that specifically supports collaborative projects initiated by both formal and non-formal education sectors and research institutions in a way that allows them to co-create knowledge and promote innovative solutions to environmental challenges.
Change is possible:
The pilot project RAISE-CS, which focuses on microplastic pollution, provides a powerful example of how cross-sectoral collaboration can drive transformative solutions in environmental research and how the Erasmus Maris concept can be leveraged to tackle any other critical environmental issue.
We need your support to make this vision reality!
Be part of a history and help us reach one million signatures through the European Citizens' Initiative, a powerful petition that enables the collection of verified signatures for the European Commission.
