Erasmus Maris Education pathway  ​

Implemented through trained science teachers, validated protocols, expert-lab collaboration and shared data systems, Erasmus Maris enables secondary schools to move beyond environmental awareness towards scientific participation, evidence interpretation, critical thinking for action and capacity to engage with real-world marine and freshwater conservation challenges:

1. Build teacher capacity

Science teachers work with expert labs and scientific partners to engage with real research practices and translate them into age-appropriate learning experiences.

2. Develop student scientific competences

Students strengthen environmental literacy, scientific reasoning and critical thinking through hands-on monitoring.

3. Contribute to environmental knowledge

Schools collect harmonised data that can support research, awareness and stakeholder dialogue across Europe.
